INNEG invites you to this free lunchtime webinar with Dr Ujwal Kariholu, Consultant Neonatologist and Medico-Legal Expert Witness, who will provide practical clinical insight into how neonatal care is delivered, assessed, and later examined within clinical negligence claims.
Drawing on real-world medico-legal experience and anonymised case examples, Dr Kariholu will explore how neonatal practice is evaluated in breach and causation, where failures most commonly arise, and how early neonatal decisions can shape prognosis and lifelong impact.

About the Speaker
Dr Ujwal Kariholu
Consultant Neonatologist & Medico-Legal Expert Witness
Dr Kariholu is a Consultant Neonatologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, based at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea and St Mary’s Hospital, London. He has specialised in neonatology since 2013 and is regularly involved in the assessment and management of critically unwell newborns in NICU settings. He has been undertaking medico-legal work since 2018 and is instructed in clinical negligence claims involving neonatal and birth-related injuries, providing expert opinion on breach of duty, causation, and prognosis. His work focuses on how neonatal care decisions impact neurological outcomes, long-term disability, and developmental impairment. Dr Kariholu’s specialist interests include birth and brain injuries, neonatal intensive care, respiratory and cardiovascular compromise, neurological injury, metabolic and genetic conditions, prematurity, and complex neonatal interventions. His clinical and medico-legal experience enables him to translate neonatal practice clearly into a medico-legal framework for the court.
