When a clinical negligence claim is ready for expert evidence, finding an available Gynaecologist is only part of the challenge.

The solicitor also needs confidence that the expert’s experience is appropriate for the clinical issues involved, without spending valuable time approaching and assessing multiple experts independently.

A solicitor approached INNEG regarding a clinical negligence claim following a total laparoscopic hysterectomy. The claimant experienced complications following the procedure and, after being discharged from hospital, later collapsed at home and was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis.

The solicitor required Gynaecology expert evidence and asked INNEG to identify an appropriate clinician.

Rather than simply searching for an available Gynaecologist, INNEG Analyst Leanne Croft reviewed the requirements of the case and carried out a targeted search for suitable expertise.

Potential experts were considered against the circumstances of the claim before a nomination was put forward, giving the solicitor a focused recommendation rather than a list of available names to assess independently.

Within just three days of receiving the enquiry, Leanne had identified and nominated a suitable Gynaecology expert and the solicitor had proceeded to instruction.

For the solicitor, this meant less time spent searching for and assessing potential experts, with the case progressing from initial enquiry to confirmed instruction within days.

This allowed the solicitor to:

  • Move from enquiry to expert instruction within three days.
  • Receive a focused nomination based on the requirements of the case.
  • Avoid carrying out a lengthy independent expert search.
  • Progress the claim with the required Gynaecology expertise secured.

Outcome

  • Dedicated Analyst managing the enquiry.
  • Suitable Gynaecology expert identified and nominated.
  • Nomination successfully progressed to instruction.
  • Entire process completed within three days.

Speed alone is of limited value if the expert is not appropriate for the case. By combining a targeted expert search with dedicated support from Katie Monk throughout the enquiry, INNEG helped the solicitor secure the required Gynaecology expertise and progress to instruction within three days.
