Medico-Legal insights brought to you by INNEG

Practical insights for clinical negligence and serious injury solicitors on supporting bereaved families with sensitivity while maintaining clear medico-legal focus.

Do you know how to communicate compassionately with clients affected by baby loss?

The trauma of stillbirth, neonatal death, or pregnancy loss doesn’t end when the legal process begins. For many families pursuing a claim, how they’re spoken to can be just as impactful as the outcome itself.

INNEG invites you to this free lunchtime webinar during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15th October), where bereaved parent and advocate Katie Monk will lead a powerful conversation about communication, compassion, and client care in baby loss claims.

Drawing from her own lived experience and her work training midwives across the NHS, Katie will offer rare insight into the emotional world of bereaved families and how solicitors can best support them, especially during the early stages of case instruction and evidence gathering.

This session will help you to:

  • Recognise the emotional needs of clients following stillbirth, neonatal loss or pregnancy loss
  • Understand how communication choices impact the client-solicitor relationship
  • Avoid common language pitfalls and emotional triggers in baby loss conversations
  • Balance clinical, legal and empathetic language when handling sensitive instructions
  • Gain confidence in supporting vulnerable clients without overstepping professional boundaries
