In high-pressure, clinically complex cases, having the right expert secured within hours can safeguard the entire legal strategy.

A solicitor urgently needed authoritative haematology–oncology evidence for a Judicial Review application involving a woman whose life-saving chemotherapy had been disrupted overseas. With fewer than 100 pages of incomplete records, no possibility of examination and an immovable eight-day court deadline, the solicitor faced a real risk that the case would become unviable without a rapid, defensible medico-legal opinion.

The solicitor needed a prognosis opinion, an assessment of the risks associated with disrupted treatment, and a full medico-legal report - based solely on fewer than 100 pages of incomplete records. The evidence deadline was eight days away, and the window for obtaining the report itself was just 72 hours.

What Made the Case Challenging

The case presented several barriers:

  • No possibility of examining the patient

  • Fragmented clinical documentation

  • A sudden shift in required expertise from gynae-oncology to haematology/oncology

  • A fixed, immovable court deadline

Any delay in sourcing or briefing the correct expert would have jeopardised the solicitor’s ability to file evidence on time.

INNEG’s Response

When the diagnosis was clarified on 2 December, our team immediately reassessed the case and switched disciplines. A new case was opened within minutes. By ringing multiple haematology-oncology experts directly, we secured same-day nominations, ensuring there was no loss of momentum.

By 3 December, the selected expert had been fully instructed with all materials and a clear summary of the legal issue. Thanks to close clinical oversight, the expert was able to begin work immediately without further clarification.

Despite the complexity and limited documentation, the expert delivered a court-ready medico-legal report by 5 December - a full, compliant report produced in just 48 hours. This gave the solicitor the evidence needed to file their Reply ahead of the interim relief hearing on 10 December.

INNEG’s Added Value - and Why It Mattered

⏱ Exceptional speed under pressure

Our ability to pivot quickly, source the correct specialist, and secure a 48-hour turnaround directly enabled the solicitor to meet a hard court deadline. Without this, evidence could not have been filed in time.

🎯 Immediate discipline correction

The case required haematology expertise, not the originally assumed speciality. Because INNEG handled the switch the same day, the solicitor avoided delays that would normally push a case past its legal timeframe.

📘 Expert clarity despite limited records
Our clinical management ensured the expert had what they needed to give a clear, defensible opinion - even with incomplete overseas records and no examination.

🌍 Support in complex cross-border scenarios

The solicitor was dealing with international medical care, political constraints, and a deteriorating claimant. INNEG absorbed the clinical complexity so the solicitor could focus on the legal argument.

Solicitor Benefit: A Case Saved from Becoming Unviable

This case demonstrates INNEG’s core value: when the legal process demands speed and accuracy, we ensure solicitors receive the right expert, the right report, and the right support exactly when they need it. What began as an almost impossible timeline became a fully evidenced submission - delivered on time, and supported by authoritative clinical insight.
